Baltic resort Travemünde·HejU
Holiday apartment Travemünde
An apartment by the sea, with the beach at the door and the harbour around the corner. Travemünde without hotel atmosphere.
Travemünde is Lübeck's second face. Instead of brick Gothic there's salt in the air, sand underfoot, and the low light you only get on the Baltic coast. The Travemünde promenade runs from the lighthouse to the mouth of the Trave, and when the ferry to Sweden casts off, half the town watches.
Our apartment on Ostseestraße is a ground floor with its own kitchen and a bathroom with a tub. It sleeps five: one bedroom, a double bed, a single bed and a sofa bed. The beach is five minutes away, the harbour ten.
What you won't find in Travemünde is the bustle of the big Baltic resorts. What you will find is a town that still takes its tradition as a seaside resort seriously without dressing up for it. The Maritim hotel as a landmark, yes. But next to it beach chairs, a few good fishmongers, an ice cream parlour that's genuinely good.
Staying with us means not being in a hotel. You make your own coffee in the morning, pick up fish from your regular, walk the beach in the evening once the day visitors have gone. A stay in Travemünde that feels like being briefly at home by the coast.

Tips·On site
What to do in Travemünde
A few anchors for your stay.
Beach and promenade
The beach stretches for kilometres towards Niendorf. The promenade runs from the Maritim to the river mouth. Best time for a walk: after 6pm, once the day visitors have left.
Travemünde lighthouse
Germany's oldest lighthouse. From the top you see it all: the Baltic, the river mouth, Lübeck in the haze, the Priwall across the water.
Priwall by ferry
The ferry to the Priwall peninsula is free. It's quieter over there, the beach wider, the pace slower. The natural beach at the southern end is a little world of its own.
Fish market at the harbour
Fresh fish straight off the cutter, Thursday and Saturday. You've got a kitchen with us, so it's worth the walk.
Lübeck as a day trip
Twenty minutes by train to central Lübeck. Old town, Holstentor, marzipan. Back by the water in the evening.
